Hi All
I've been doing a little website update and added some hover buttons. I was wondering if someone can check it out to make sure they work and are visable in your browser before I go too far. One page I have them on is the Products Menu.
http://www.rctonewoods.rcefaluguitars.com/products_menu.htm
Thanks

Bob, do you mean does it light up what I'm hovering over? It seems to work ok for me. I'm using IE.

Hope this helps.

Works for me but I would either make the hilight color less bright or change the text to a darker color, I have to scroll off to see what the text below is...

Cheers

Hi Bob,

From what I can tell, "fphover.class" is the culprit that will allow some to see your mouseover behaviors, and others to see broken links. I'm pretty sure it's a "Java applet", as opposed to a "JavaScript script." What's the difference? One (Java) is a complete computer programming language that needs to have a set of runtime files to allow it to work, and one (JavaScript) is a scripting language, used to create snippets of script code that will run on most machines.

I can see your mouseover effects. I have Java installed on my machine, and suspect that all of us that can see your rollovers (or mouseovers) have at least the Java runtime files installed. I recommend that you use JavaScript mouseovers instead (like you see on my site.)

Let me know if I can help.

Dennis is right about the problem. Your site seemed slow to load on my machine at work and I noticed that Java started up in the toolbar. It ran okay, but there was a pause while Java was loaded.

Well I changed the highlight color and I'm just using the hover buttons on a few menus. Dennis I just use Front Page and don't know any html. Thanks for the offer.

Bob,
That is soooooo groovey and psychedelic. The colors, man, the colors..... Oh wow, look at my hand. I have a thumb. Far out!

Have I dated myself and revealed past secrets that should only be told in the darkest of nights?

Tune in next week for the exiting conclusion.

Now as we return to 2005: "They look great on my machine. Good work, buddy."

Good morning Bob,
Just to let you know, the roll-overs don't work on the Products Page, but
they do work when I go to any of the subsequent pages like "Back Sides"
and "Sound Boards." I'm on a Mac using Safari as my browser. I realize I'm
probably in the minority, although Java scripts should not be platform-
dependent. Just an FYI, since you asked.

Bob, Not working here. Front page loads with several white blanks. Other pages, such as Back/Sides, images on the page load but thats as far as it gets. Waited about 3 or 4 minutes and it never finished loading, all white blocks.

I never had trouble with the old set-up.

Daniel

Daniel did you try refreshing the page? I had the same problem but a refresh seems to work OK

Bob, I had the same problem as Daniel Huskey above, but noticed that if I put another window in front of yours, then moved your's back in front, then the blanks where the wood names go were filled in. In other words, the screen didn't redraw itself until forced to by being hidden by another window.

This happens repeatedly. For example, if I click on Honduran RW then hit the back button, once again several of the blocks where the wood names go are blank (black) until i move a window in front of yours, to force a redraw.

Hitting the refresh button sometimes helps the problem, but more often doesn't. For example, I went to your home page, clicked back/sides, and all the wood names came up blank (black squares). Hit refresh a few times and a few wood names appeared, such as Cherry, but the rest remained blank. Hitting refresh a few more times caused a few more of the names to show up, but not all of them.

Also, now your page seems to run a lot slower. I can actually see the page redraw itself as the applet you are using draws each entry.

I'm running Windows 2000 and IE 6.

Bob I had a problem (Could be just my computer) I pressed the email button and it shows the address at the bottom of the page, but doesn't pop up an email.

I typed it in manually.

Bob, that's simply not working at all here. I see a background, a table, the title (RC Tonewoods) and 'products', but zero, zip, nada links. Nothin' going.

I'm running Firefox here, and I've got Java turned off because, frankly, I don't like the potential security risks associated, and very very few things actually need Java. Rollovers can be done with CSS (although I'm not sure how, personally. I let others do my web design these days), which is cleaner, smaller and faster. I'd at least provide alternative text links for folks who don't surf with Java turned on.

Far as I'm concerned, navigation should be clean and simple. Rollovers may be pretty, but I don't feel they really add any value, short of having pop-out/drop-down menus or something.

Hey Bob. On initial page load about half of them don't load for me. All the links don't show up until after I have visited one of the interior pages then returned to the back and sides page.

:-)
